Cook Islands Culinary Championships is a collaboration for the Cook Islands Chefs Association with the support of Cook Islands Tourism to showcase the culinary talents of people who enjoy cooking. We have been running competitions for a number of years, but just restarted after a two year break.

We have competitors from different establishments as well as different skills base, as we open our competition to everyone. We aim to encourage utilising local ingredients, and have stipulated this in the competition rules. This year we are lucky to have a competitor joining us from Aitutaki, which is a first.

We are kindly supported by a few businesses such as Cook Islands Tourism, Prime Foods, CITC Supermarket, Origin Energy, Tina & Co, LBV, RaroPro, Akaieie, John Engu, DJ Bais who are all kindly helping us in one way or another. As it is a competition,  we need judges and are fortunate to get assistance from locals that want to help us alongside our CI Chefs judges such as Minar Henderson, Rangi Mitaera-Johnson, Emma Kainuku-Walsh, Shane Andrew's, Mona Henderson, to name a few.

The Food Service Expo is a showcase for what we want to promote through the people that want to support us and also what the Cook Islands Chefs Association feels passionate about which is going local. So we have exhibitors such as Prime Foods, CITC Supermarket,  Cook Islands Tourism, Tina & Co, Nuku Kai, BTIB Cook Islands, and hopefully Ministry of Agriculture will also come on board.  Open from 9.30am - 3pm.

Opening is at 9am, with the first heat of competitions starting at 9.30am, with the wrap up of comps by 3.30pm, prizegiving at 4.15pm across at the Margaritas Bistro & Bar.
